Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is a Residential Academic Institution situated in the city of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was launched in 1875 through Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and in 1920 it was allowed a status of Central University by an Act of Indian Parliament. It is famous for being the birth place of the Pakistan movement and the intelligentsia affiliated with the university played a pioneering role in the creation of the Islamic state of Pakistan.
