The Bengal Engineering College was instituted in 1856 at Shibpur, Howrah. This is affiliated by The Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU). BEC is one of the oldest and prime engineering colleges in India. The college is known for its heritage as well as excellence in teaching and research in engineering.
