Christ University was formerly Christ College (Autonomous) affiliated to Bangalore University. Established in July 1969, Christ College became the most preferred educational institution in the city of Bangalore within the first three decades. The university covers lots of degrees and certifications. There are Diploma Programs in Wine Studies, Certificate Courses in both even and odd semester in various fields, International Twinning Programs, Master degree, M.Phil in various fields, M.S, MA in English, Applied Economics, Philosophy, and Sociology, MBA, M.Com, MCA, MFM, MTA, MSW, and M.Sc. The PhD programs are also available in wide range of fields. It Ranks among the top 20 leading universities in India, published in India Today (June 2008). Under UGC Act, Ministry of Human Resources Development of the Union Government of India, declared Christ University as a Deemed University in 2008.
