Cork is a substantial that develops as the bark of the Cork Oak tree. More than half of the world’s cork initiates in southern Portugal. Scientifically the Latin name for the cork oak tree is Quercus suber. This remarkable tree has a bark which is unique throughout the plant kingdom. Cork is most usually used for wine bottle stoppers, but it can also be detected in bulletin boards, flotation patterns, and floor tiles.

It is the main source of cork for wine bottle plugs and other uses. It is native to southwest Europe and northwest Africa. Worldwide cork requirement is on the rise mainly due to increasing wine consumption. Ramping up cork manufacture, however, is a lengthy procedure since cork trees can only be gleaned about once per decade.
