The duties and roles of Police Department of West University Place are as follows: Police Department • Alarm Systems All alarm systems within the City of West University Place, monitored or not, are required to be registered. • Bicycle Registration Form Register bicycle with the West University Place Police Department. • Crime Reports There is a daily crime updates or sign up for a weekly report subscription. • Crisis Resources & Support Access resources to help through crisis situations that may arise regarding crime, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and more • House Watch The Department will place one’s house on a special watch for a maximum of 30 days while one is away. • Identity Theft Learn how to handle identity theft and some tips to prevent identity theft. • Information Links Check out resources provided by the Police Department including local schools and transportation services. • Neighbourhood Watch The purpose of Neighbourhood Watch is to promote neighbourhood safety and security. • No Knock City ordinance allows residents who do not want commercial solicitors to come to their residence to add their address to a do-not-disturb (no knock) list that is provided to all registered solicitors. • Records The University has established guidelines in accordance with the Public Information Act to ensure that all records in the possession of and pertaining to the operation of the governmental body are available to the public through a systematic and centralized process. • Security Survey The Department offers a service to West U residents that can provide helpful tips to better secure home. • Traffic Accident Form This form is for minor accidents where in most cases the vehicles have been removed from the accident site and insurance company requires that file a report with the state. • Training The Department is certified as a Contractual Training Provider through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
