National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is a group of fashion colleges in India. It was established in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and is an institution of design, management and technology for the international fashion business.

For Admission Into the B Design Course of NIFT you may Passed the Entrance Exam Taken by the NIFT the Details of the Entrance Exam is given below

Candidates seeking admissions to B.Des Programme have to appear for Creative Ability Test (CAT) as well as General Ability Test (GAT). Shortlisted candidates will be required to take the Situation Test.

Eligibility for B Design
Candidates should passed Secondary School Examination/10th or; Passed Senior Secondary Exam /12th recognized by AIU; and
Candidates should passed 3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE/AIU/UGC or a State Board of Technical Education; and
Having attended courses related to Fashion/Apparel/Textile and Accessories/Home Science/ Handloom Technology/Products/Visual Communication/Graphic Design/Industrial Design / Interior Design/Multimedia Design/Apparel Technology/Leather or
Students who have completed 2 year regular UG Diploma Programme at NIFT

Exam Pattern

BDES (GAT) -

Duration - 120 Minutes

Sections - No. of Questions -

Quantitative Ability - 20 Qs
Communication Ability- 25 Qs
English Comprehension - 25 Qs
Analytical Ability - 15 Qs
General Knowledge and Current Affairs - 15 Qs

Total - 120 Qs

CREATIVE ABILITY TEST (CAT) -

This test is administered to judge the intuitive ability, power of observation in concept development and design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the creative and innovative use of colour and illustration skills.

SITUATION TEST -

Shortlisted candidates for B.Des from the written entrance examination are required to take a Situation Test which is a handson test to evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability on a given situation with a given set of materials.
