The University of Florida was established in 1853 and is an American public land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant research university. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Admission Requirements Minimum Admission Requirements Master Degree: • There is no strict minimum required score for the verbal and quantitative portions of the GRE. Admitted students have an average GRE score of 315. GRE scores are invalidated five years after the test date. • GRE Analytical Writing Score of 3.5 • Undergraduate upper-division grade point average of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 • If applicable, scores from an English Language Proficiency test • 3 letters of reference from faculty of the university where received one’s degree • Statement of Purpose Ph.D. Degree: • There is no strict minimum required score for the verbal and quantitative portions of the GRE. Admitted students have an average GRE score of 315. GRE scores are invalidated five years after the test date. • GRE Analytical Writing score of 3.5 • Master degree (or equivalent) with a graduate work grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00; or bachelor degree with outstanding academic record • If applicable, scores from an English Language Proficiency test • 3letters of reference from faculty of the university where received one’s degree • Statement of Purpose English Language Skill Requirements To be admitted to the UF Graduate School, non-exempt non-US and Puerto Rican applicants must meet the required minimum on the verbal portion of the GRE, plus one of these English language tests: • IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 6. • MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery): 77. • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language – Internet-Based): 80. • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language – Paper-Based): 550. • Verbal GRE: 140. General Notes • Admission decisions are not based solely on test scores or grade point average. All parts of the application are taken into consideration before a final decision is made. • One who does not meet the minimum requirements for the Ph.D. degree is automatically considered for admission to the Master's degree. • All GRE scores must come from a single GRE exam. GRE scores from different GRE exams cannot be combined to meet the admission requirement. |
