The SRM University (Sri Ramaswami Memorial University) is a deemed university in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 1985 as SRM Engineering College in Kattankulathur, under University of Madras.

It has 7 campuses, 4 in Tamil Nadu—Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, Vadapalani, Tiruchchirappalli and others in NCR, Sonepat and Gangtok. It is approved by the University Grants Commission and is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Mr. V. Thirumurugan, M.E., MIE obtained his B. E. degree in Civil Engineering from Annamalai University in 1989. He served as Technical Assistant in P.W.D Building from 1989 to 1992.

Then served for a short spell as Associate Lecturer in AVC Polytechnic, Mayiladuthurai between January 1992 to August 1992, and Joined as Associate Lecturer in Valliammai Polytechnic (SRM Group) on 15.12.1992 and served till 14.04.1994.
