Don’t worry I will suggest you tips to prepare for IAS exam in own manner and will also get the mains pattern and syllabus, so that it would be easy for you to implement. Here are some tips Manage your time effectively and be disciplined. Develop a routine! Do selective reading but be through in those portions Remember to have a good mix of books and self made notes Take mock tests at regular intervals Start preprations early, its a vast syllabus! Make short notes and mind maps on a regular basis! They help your memory. Reach out to fellow aspirants. Discuss topics! Most importantly believe that you can do it without coaching! Exam pattern Paper Subject Marks Paper A (One of the Indian languages listed below, to be selected by the candidate (from the languages listed in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India) (Qualifying) 300 Paper B English (Qualifying) 300 Paper I Essay 250 Paper II General Studies I (Indian heritage and culture, history and geography of the world and society) 250 Paper III General Studies II (Governance, constitution, polity, social justice, and international relations) 250 Paper-IV General Studies III (Technology, economic development, biodiversity, environment, security and disaster management) 250 Paper V General Studies-IV(ethics, integrity, and aptitude) 250 Papers VI, VII Two papers on subjects to be selected by the candidate from the list of optional subjects below (250 marks for each paper) 500 TOTAL(WRITTEN TEST) 1750 Note The candidates can select medium of writing the UPSC Civil Services IAS Mains Exam in Hindi or English. The Indian Languages included in the civil services exam are as per languages listed in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution. The final ranking of the candidates’ is on the basis of the marks obtained by them in the Main Examination and Personality Test/Interview Round.
