Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducts Chartered Accountant - Common Proficiency Test (CA CPT) for candidates who wish to pursue a career in Chartered Accountancy.

As you asking I am telling Minimum marks/cut off to qualify for Chartered Accountant - Common Proficiency Test (CA CPT) :

Section

Sectional cutoff for CPT

Overall cutoff for CPT

Fundamentals of Accounting

30% of 60 marks

50% marks

Mercantile Laws

30% of 40 marks

General Economies

30% of 50 marks

Quantitative Aptitude

30% of 50 marks

CA CPT Paper Pattern:-

CA CPT is an entry level test for Chartered Accountancy Course, which is held twice a year in June and December for registered students of Common Proficiency Course (CPC).

The test comprises of four subjects viz., Accounting, Mercantile Laws, General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude with an objective to test basic knowledge in these subject areas.

This test is for 200 marks and is divided into two sessions of two hours each with a break in between.

CPT is an objective type test with negative marking. Subjects are to be studied in CPT as follows:

SESSION – I ( Two Sections – Two hours – 100 marks )

Section A: Fundamentals of Accounting ( 60 marks )
Section B: Mercantile Laws ( 40 marks )

SESSION – II ( Two Sections – Two hours – 100 marks)

Section C: General Economics ( 50 marks )
Section D: Quantitative Aptitude ( 50 marks)

CA CPT Preparation

Candidate should keep one thing in mind that CA is a professional course hence success can only be achieved if practical approach is adopted.

Mugging out thoroughly the whole night before the exam won’t work.

Try to make a proper time table for your studies and ensure that you are implementing the time table. Make such a schedule for preparation that you can easily allocate 2-3 hrs to each subject.

Subjects like Audit with Financial Management, Indirect Taxation with Accounts need more dedication.
