The Tripura University was established in 1987, by the State Government under the Tripura University Act 1987

The Tripura University is offering B.A, B.ED, MA in Education, MA in Political Science, MA in Bengali and DCA (Diploma in Computer Applications) courses in distance learning mode under the Directorate of Distance Education.

So far, Tripura University has affiliated General Degree Colleges 17 (seventeen), affiliated Professional Degree Colleges 15 (fifteen) and 3 (three) affiliated Technical Colleges

Eligibility:
Candidates must be Graduate (honours or pass)/Post Graduate in Commerce/Science/Arts from a recognised University with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or Graduate in Engineering/ Technology/Computer Application/ Medical Science/Pharmacy/Agriculture with at least 60% marks in aggregate (5% marks relaxation in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates) and having a minimum composite score of 550 (out of 800) in MAT (Management Aptitude Test) conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi
