The National Defence Academy is the Joint Services academy of the Indian Armed Forces, is cadets of the three services, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force train on to pre-commissioning training in their respective service academies.

NDA exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Exam : in April and august.

Selection process : based on written exam, interview, strength and medical tests.

Educational Qualification : Candidates must have Completed 10+2.

Age : 16 ½ – 19 years.

Fees : Candidates must pay a registration fee of Rs. 100/-

NDA Starting Salary:

Rank Pay Band (Rupee)
Lieutenant to Major 15,600 - 39,100 ( PB - 3 )
Lieutenant Colonel to Major General 37,400 - 67,000 ( PB - 4 )
Lieutenant General HAG 67,000 - ( annual scale increment @ 3% ) - 79,000
HAG + Scale 75,500 - ( annual increment @ 3% ) - 80,000
VCOAS / Army Cdr / Lieutenant General 80,000 ( fixed )
( NFSG ) COAS 90,000 ( fixed )

In addition to pay, grade pay will also be given as under:

Captain Rupee6,100/-
Major Rupee6,600/-
Lietunant Colonel Rupee8,000/-
Colonel Rupee8,700/-
Brigade Rupee8,900/-
Major General Rupee10,000/-

The Army Aviators ( Pilots ) serving in Army Aviation Corps are entitled to the Qualification Pay:

Master Aviation Instructor – Rupee500/- p.m.
Senior Aviation Instructor Class I – Rupee400/- p.m.
Senior Aviation Instructor Class II – Rupee280/-p.m.
Aviators holding Master Green Card – Rupee400/-p.m.
Aviators holding Green Card – Rupee280/ -p.m.
