Hi I would like to have the information about the formation of Shivaji University as well as the growth which the University has achieved over the years?

Shivaji University, set up in 1962, is named after the Great Maratha Warrior and author of the Maratha domain Chhatrapati Shivaji. It was introduced on eighteenth November, 1962 by Dr. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India.

One of the real targets behind establishment of this University was to take into account the provincial needs of South Maharashtra. The ward of the University is spread more than three areas viz. Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara.

In 1962 the University began working with 34 associated schools and around 14000 understudies with 5 Post-graduate Departments on the grounds. Today the quantity of partnered schools has gone upto 280 and understudies quality upto 3,00,000 with 34 Postgraduate Departments on grounds. The University gives training in 10 noteworthy resources of Arts, Social Science, Science, Commerce, Education, Fine Arts, Law, Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, Engineering and Technology.

The University solidified its base in this stage by 'taking instruction to the general population'. The time of 1980s saw a noteworthy extension, particularly the development of expert resources like Engineering, Education, Management and Medicine.

A few stages have been taken to raise the models of educating and research in order to quantify upto worldwide principles. This is being accomplished by investigating new ranges of higher learning and research in quickly rising fields like Industrial Chemistry, Space Science, Environmental Science, Bio-Chemistry, Sericulture, Polymer Chemistry and Computer Science, notwithstanding fundamental science disciplines.

The tentative arrangements of the University incorporate foundation of School of Rural Management, Research Institute of Bio-Technology and Advanced Center of Information Technology.

Shivaji University has sacked the 28th position in the rankings reported by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
