The Gauhati University Library initiated its operating in 1948 at Chandmari. Mission of Gauhati University Library is to set high standards of excellence in the conservation of knowledge and do as an effective instrument of improvement and alter for the state of Assam and the rest of the country by passing on faithfully and comprehensively the cultural, scientific and technological occurrences of mankind increased over the millennia, thereby insuring the continuous and advancement of human civilization.
