The Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) is an advanced research institute. This institute founded by the Reserve Bank of India for following out research on development matters from multi-disciplinary points of opinions. After IGIDR registration as an autonomous society in 1986 and as a public trust in 1987, then Prime Minister, Shri Rajiv Gandhi started the campus at Goregaon in 1987. Afterwards, the Institute was made out as a Deemed University under division 3 of the UGC Act.

PHD program
The Ph.D. programme is planned to create academic researchers as well as professionals who are capable of carrying on policy analysis, linking to national and global economic and development issues, in a valued and inter-disciplinary manner. Admission in PHD based on entrance test, personal interview & group discussion.
