Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad was launched in the year 1926. ISM Dhanbad is one of the prime engineering institutions of India. The origin of ISM Dhanbad can be retraced to 1901 when the Indian Mines Act came into place. A need was felt to launch a government college of Mining Engineering at some desirable place in India on the pattern of the Royal School of Mines. The Government of India in 1920 determined that the extended institution should be an All India Institution credited by the Central Government and be appointed Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. In 1996-97, ISM Dhanbad was conceded the status of Deemed University under the UGC Act in 1967. Indian School of Mines University Dhanbad is spread over a campus of 88 hectares and extends several courses at the UG as well as PG level in the engineering field. For placement please go on its official web site.
