Introduction
Karnataka Board of Technical Education is Department of Technical Education Karnataka came into possibility from 1959 in order to handle technical education in the state. DTE is containing out the administration, superintendence, operating and designing programs for the growth of Technical Educational Institutions in the state both at Degree and Diploma levels. The first Engineering College was commenced by the Mysore Government in 1917 at Bangalore. After 1946, three more colleges were started. By the time of Integration of the State, there were wholly five engineering colleges (two Government and three private) in the State. By 1993-94 there were a whole of 47 Engineering Colleges in the State of which were four Government institutions, nine were assisted and the rest unaided.
