The name Maharaja Palace in reality concerns to a group of palaces in Vadodara, India, built since the Gaekwad family started ruling the Vadodara State. Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III 1890 constructed the Lakshmi Vilas Palace on the lines of the Indo-Saracenic school. Maharaja Palace concerns to a group of palaces in Vadodara, which was built since the time the Gaekwad family started ruling the state of Vadodara. The castle is a tremendous work of eclecticism architecture, with a mix of all manners. Constructed in 720 acres, it was decorated by Mr Gonderling of Kew. The work began in 1878 and was finished in 1890; it is still the house of the royal family. This palace has 2 significant buildings on its compound, which are the Moti Baug Palace and the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum. It has honored Darbar Hall with Italian mosaic floor and walls. The palace has a rich collection of antiquates namely, armoury and sculptus in bronze, marble and terracotta.
