M.J.P. Rohilkhand University was demonstrated in 1975 as an associating University. Its condition was promoted to associating-cum-residential university in 1985 when four teaching Departments were demonstrated in the campus. In 1987 3 more sections were increased. In August 1997 Rohilkhand University was called as Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University.
The J.P. Rohilkhand University has accepted an overall position of development plan and thereby altered University position by admitting new Faculties of Engineering and Technology, Management, Applied Sciences, Education and Allied Sciences etc. It has 154 associated colleges.
The University headquarter is situated at Bareilly with its regional jurisdiction extending over the districts of Bareilly, Moradabad, Rampur, Bijnore, Jyotibaphule Nagar, Baduan, Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur. The University campus spreads over 206 acre of Land.
