The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) Tura was inaugurated on 19/10/1973 through the Honourable Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Late Captain W. A. Sangma in the State Central Library Auditorium, Shillong. Meghalaya Board of School Education has a Cell/Branch at Shillong below an Assistant Secretary entrusted with the MSLC and PSLC Examination functions in Khasi and Jaintia Hills. But the Cell now has to take greater duties with the number of Examinations directed through the Board having increased.

Permanent Campus with Shri V. S. Jafa, I.A.S. as the president of the Board (1975), the permanent site for the MBOSE Complex was chose at Araimile, Tura and the construction of the MBOSE Administrative Building was began while Shri I. K. Sangma was on the Secretary’s Chair.
