Introduction
The National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE) was launched on July 2, 1999 by merging the Central JALMA Institute Leprosy (CJIL), Field Unit, Avadi with the Institute for Research in Medical Statistics (IRMS), Chennai. This initiative mainly purposes to arise middle-level managers for public health. The program is an off-campus course of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram and the MPH degree granted is accepted by Medical Council of India (MCI).
