National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai, a technical arm of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, is working with the liberal goal of encouraging technology development in several mission manner design activities linked to Ocean Engineering and Ocean Resource Exploitation. Presently the group is working on three particular fields, fresh water production taking low temperature thermal desalination (LTTD) process, and energy production using two clearly different procedures, Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion and Wave Energy.
