Introduction
The stress in the National Health Policy, which was followed by the Parliament in 1983, is on the provision of device, getting and reconstructive health services to the people. The chief target is to place the health of the people in the hands of the people through the Primary Health Care approach. The act of Primary Health Care is the base structure of rural health care system and classes an integral part of the national health care programmes. Health care programmes have been reconstituted and reoriented from time to time. Priority has been accorded to extension, expansion and consolidation of the Rural Health Infrastructure viz.Sub-Centres, Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres.
The Technical Divisions look after the technical expressions of family welfare activities. Statistics section helps in appearance designing and supervising and rating of the performance of several family welfare programs and co-ordinates statistic research. The Rural Health Division looks after health infrastructure at the peripheral level. The IEC Division is responsible for supplying communication, educational publicity and extension support to the curriculum by Mass Education and Extension Education with emphasis on inter-personal communication. It is also looking after population education activities.
