Rajendra Agricultural University was originally launched as India’s first ever Imperial Agriculture Research Institute on July 4th, 1903. In 1934, later a major earthquake rocked Bihar and which severely damage the main buildings, It’s one of 26 agricultural universities in India and is situated close Pusa Bazaar, in Samastipur District, Bihar, India. The Imperial Institute was changed to the new “Pusa” Campus in New Delhi and that eventually became Indian Agricultural Research Institute. What remained was downgraded to an agricultural research station until on December 3rd, 1970, when the Government of India launched Rajendra Agricultural University.
