Introduction
At one time recognized as the “Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work”, the institute was demonstrated in 1936. It was not till the year 1944, that it was called Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and 20 years by its calling i.e. in 1964, UGC has granted the institute the condition of a Deemed University. TISS obtains its financial assists from UGC, and the institute is also an honored member of the Association of Indian Universities. TISS has started a vast array of possibilities for students as far as developing cognition and abilities are focused. Apart from the formal classes held in the institute classrooms, TISS believes in putting up its students with hands-on high point concerned to everything they are learning. A level degree of freedom and self-direction shape the convinced work ethos and creativity in the Institute helping strong linkages between education, research, field action and distribution, whose bulwark is a cooperation and sensitivity to social needs.
