University Of Mumbai Distance Education

The University of Mumbai is one of the most former and prime Universities in India. It was founded in 1857 subsequent upon “Wood’s Education Dispatch”, and it is one among the first three Universities in India. A demand for Distance Education was felt by the University of Mumbai and therefore it demonstrated the Directorate of Correspondence Courses in the year 1971-72 which was indicated as staggered board of directors of Distance Education in the year 1985 the post of full time Director was produced in the grade of Professor. As a continuation to the modify in the name of the city from Bombay to Mumbai, the name of the University has been changed from “University of Bombay” to “University of Mumbai”, vide notification issued by the Government of Maharashtra and issued in the Government Gazette dated 4th September, 1996.
