Zoological Survey of India Calicut
The Zoological Survey of India was founded in 1916 to promote the survey, exploration and research of the fauna in the region. The activities of the Zoological Survey India are co-ordinate by the conservation and Survey Division in the Ministry of Environment and Forests. The Zoological Survey had its generation in the institution of the Zoological Section of the Indian Museum at Calcutta in 1875. The seven-storey new facility of the ZSI contains a zoological museum at the first and ground floors of the building. The Zoological Collections preserved to be housed in the Indian Museum in Kolkata.
