West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE) offers admissions to the engineering courses in about 104 institutes and colleges across the state through a common counselling held after the announcement of the WBJEE result declaration. WBJEE Eligibility Criteria Nationality Criteria One must be citizens of India. Age Criteria • The minimum age of aspirants need to be 17 years. There is no upper age limit for admissions to all B. Tech programmes (except B. Tech in Marine Engineering). • For B. Tech Programme in Marine Engineering, one must be minimum 17 years of age, while the maximum age limit is 25 years. • One appearing in the qualifying exam, class XII is also eligible to apply for WBJEE. Domicile Criteria • One should be residents of West Bengal for 10 years consecutively. Or • One’s parents must be permanent residents of West Bengal having a permanent residential address in the state. WBJEE Eligibility Criteria for B. Tech Programmes • One belonging to general category must have secured minimum 45% aggregate marks in class XII or equivalent exam, while, SC/ST/PwD applicants must have secured a minimum aggregate marks as 40% in class XII or equivalent exam. • One must have passed class XII or equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology /Computer Science/Computer Application as compulsory subjects. • One must have scored minimum aggregate marks of 30% in English in class XII or equivalent exam. • One also need to have obtained individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all 3 subjects in regular class mode. Marine Engineering Course specific Eligibility Criteria As per the norms and standards of the Director General of Shipping, Government of India, candidates aspiring for admissions to degree course in Marine Engineering must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) exam of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent exam from a recognized Council/Board in regular class mode with: a) 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. b) Individual pass marks (both in theory and practical where ever applicable) in each of the said subjects; c) Minimum of 50% marks in English as subject in either in ‘10’ standard or in class XII |
