The University of Wyoming Police Department is dedicated to providing quality law enforcement services to community. Its mission is to protect life and property; preserve the peace; prevent crime; and enforce all laws, ordinances, and university regulations in a fair and impartial manner.

On Campus Services

In addition to traditional law enforcement activities such as speed enforcement and safety patrolling, the UWPD offers a variety of non-enforcement activities including fingerprinting, VIN Inspections, lost and found pickup and storage as well as safety escorts.

Our department also provides free information on a variety of topics such as; theft, sexual assault, drug and alcohol abuse as well as harassing phone calls.

In addition, department personnel frequently present public safety programs upon request from any group or organization.

Safety Escorts
For those needing a uniformed safety escort from on campus facility to facility, one can call at (307) 766-5179.

Lost and Found
The UWPD picks up and store found items from campus locations and stores them at an undisclosed location.
High traffic buildings (i.e. Union, Coe Library and the Classroom building) are scheduled for weekly pickups, while remaining buildings are picked up on an as-needed basis.
All unclaimed property will be auctioned off annually in September.

Firearms Storage
The UW Police Department provides free weapon storage for all UW students living in UW housing (i.e. Fraternities, Sororities, Residence Halls, Bison Run Village, Landmark Village, River Village, and Spanish Walk Apartments).

Bicycle Registration
The UWPD offers a variety of bicycle services including registration, theft recovery, as well as safety and regulation enforcement.

Fingerprinting
The UWPD provides fingerprinting services for students, faculty, and staff members and general public.

VIN Inspection
The UWPD provides VIN inspections for students, faculty, staff members and the general public
