The Department of Pathology in Nizam's Institute Of Medical Sciences NIMS was started on 16th September 1986. The department has now established itself as a referral center and centre of excellence not only in the state but in India.

The department is a member of external quality control programme for cytology, coagulation and histopathology.

Courses-

MD Pathology (Doctor of Medicine in Pathology)

Duration of Course: Three years full-time residency
Recognition of Course: Recognized by MCI
Entry Qualification: MBBS
Method of Selection: Through NIMSET (NIMS Entrance Test)
No. of Candidates: 5 per year

PGDMLT (Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology)

Duration of Course: Two years full-time course (1st Year - Biochemistry & Microbiology; 2nd Year - Pathology and Transfusion Medicine)
Entry Qualification: B.Sc in any Life Sciences
Method of Selection: Based on B Sc marks merit
No. of Candidates: 12 per year
