Re: reservation in iims
IIM’s institutes are admitted candidates through CAT. The online application for CAT exam will begin in August and as per speculations the official notification will be out by the end of this month. CAT is a nationally conducted management exam. CAT will be primarily held for admission to Post Graduate Program in Management which is offered at the 20 IIMs spread around the country. IIMs follow the central government policy on seat reservation. As per the provisions, 15% of the seats are reserved for students of Scheduled Castes, and 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribes. The Other Backward Classes have also been given 27% reservation since 2008 after the Supreme Court of India upheld the validity of government regulation. CAT Reservation of Seats: Seats Reserved for Different Categories A certain percentage of seats in IIMs are reserved for SC, ST, OBC and PWD candidates. Category Reservation (%) Scheduled Caste (SC) 15 Scheduled Tribe (ST) 7.5 Non-Creamy – Other Backward Classes (NC-OBC) 27 People with Disability (PWD) 3 Total Percentage of Reserved Seats 52.5 CAT Eligibility that you all must know for reservation: The primary condition requires a candidate to have passed graduation with at least 50% marks. For candidates from reserved and PWD category, the pass marks are minimum 45% in graduation. Candidates in final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for CAT. However, they will be admitted on a provisional basis. Candidates with CA/CS/ICWA degree (Gen: 50% & SC/ST/ PWD: 45%) can also apply. There is no age limit defined by IIM Lucknow.
