Barclays/CEO Jes Staley The Barclays Bank is a National Bank of South Africa. This bank is first entered Mauritius in 1919. In 1925, National Bank of South Africa was merged with the Anglo-Egyptian Bank and the Colonial Bank in 1925 to form Barclays Bank (Dominion, Colonial and Overseas). This brought the Mauritian operations under Barclays Bank. Since then, Barclays Bank Mauritius has grown to be the third largest bank in Mauritius, after Mauritius Commercial Bank and State Bank of Mauritius, with 25 branches and a market share of about 10-12%. In 2002, Barclays Bank Mauritius bought Banque Nationale de Paris Intercontinentale (BNPI). This acquisition brought with it 6 branches to add to Barclays' existing 13 branches.
