Don’t worry! I will let you know more about UPSC, Indian Economic Services exam and will also tell you dates to get the exam application form. Eligibility Nationality A candidate must be either (a) a Citizen of India, (b) a subject of Nepal, (c) a subject of Bhutan, (d) a Tibetan refugee Age A candidate for admission to this exam must have attained the age of minimum 21 years and must not have attained the age of maximum 30 years Eligibility A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a University. Application fee Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/PH candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs.200/- Exam pattern The written exam would consist of the following subject. The maximum marks allotted to each subject/paper and the time allowed will be as follows: [A]. Indian Economic Service Sl.No. Subject Maximum marks Time 1. General English 100 3 hours 2. Indian Economics 200 3 hours The questions papers in all the subjects will be of conventional (essay) type. Questions will be set in English and must be answered in English as well. You need to answer the exam yourself and won't be allowed a scribe to write for you. However, blind candidates will be allowed a scribe as well as an additional 30 minutes for each paper. Candidates with locomotor disability and cerebral palsy will also be allowed an extra 20 minutes per paper, but won't be allowed a scribe. The UPSC decides the qualifying marks for each paper. Marks may be deducted if your handwriting is not easily understood. No marks will be given for superficial (slight) knowledge. You will be allowed to use scientific, non-programmable calculators in the examination hall. You may use only the international form of Indian numerals (i.e. 1,2,3,4) while writing the exam. Part II: Viva Voce Exam (Interview) You will be interviewed by a Board of qualified and impartial observers who will have before them a record of your career. The object of the interview is to judge how suitable you are for the service for which you are competing. This viva voce exam/ oral interview will test the general and specialised knowledge and abilities of the candidate, in addition to the written exam.
