Yes, Aquatics Club of Students' Gymkhana Council, IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Guwahati (Assam) organise beginner’s classes for non-swimmers. The Aquatics Club encourages love for swimming and provides an umbrella for all the activities in the aqua-sphere. It encourages newbies to take up swimming as a part of a healthy lifestyle and provide a positive environment for acquiring this life saving skill. What the Club do? • Train the Inter IIT Contingent. • Organise summer camps for swimming. • Organise beginner’s classes for non-swimmers. • Compete with other teams in the State/Country. Past Events • Inter IIT: The primary goal of every sports club of the IIT (annual event). • Aquatics Spardha: Inter hostel competition (annual event) • Aquatics Spirit: Inter college competition (annual event) • Summer Camp (Training for competitive swimming under guidance of coaches) • Beginners Camp (Training for non-competitive swimming for beginners under guidance of coach and Inter IIT athletes) • Friendly Matches: Held at regular intervals against the local swim teams and clubs. Achievements • Won Spirit 2014 (Water Polo) • Surabhi Bhargava won multiple medals for three consecutive years (2012-2014) at Inter IIT meets. • Kunwar Walia won multiple medals (8 total) in the Inter IIT 2010 and 2011. • Indrajit Singh and Soumya Sen won medals in 2006 for IIT Guwahati.
