The Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT) is an autonomous Institute of higher research functioning under the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. This is an Institute constituted specifically for carrying out higher research Classical Tamil at international levels not to be found elsewhere globally FELLOWSHIP PROVIDED BY : Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT) Chennai Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT) Chennai, an Autonomous Institute, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, provides Doctoral Fellowships for eligible candidates. The aim of the award is to promote scholarship in Classical Tamil. Provisions The Fellowship is for 2 years and will be paid a stipend of Rs 12,000/- per month with a contingency grant of Rs 12,000/- per annum. Eligibility Criteria : Candidates should have registered for PhD in any recognized University or Institute. Candidates should possess Postgraduate degree with not less than 55 marks in Literature, Linguistics, or allied disciplines such as Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archaeology, Epigraphy, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore, Philosophy, etc. SC/ST Candidates will be given a relaxation of 5 marks Age Limit: The candidate should not have exceeded 30 years of age. Age relaxation 3 years will be allowed for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. Selection Procedure The fellows will be selected through a written test followed by an interview. The decision of the Director, CICT is final in all matters related to the selection and award of Doctoral Fellowships including the number of fellowships to be given.
