Magnetic moment of a magnet using Searle’s vibration magnetometer. 5. Hysteresis curve of a transformer core using CRO 6. Measurement of Dielectric constant of a solid and liquid 7. Resistivity of a material by four probe technique 8. Determination of bandgap of semiconductor using DFT 9. Optical property of an element using DFT 10. Calculation of Debye temperature using DFT Learning Outcomes: CO1: This course integrates theory of Solid State Physics with experimental demonstrations in the Research Physics Lab. CO2: The course will provide a valuable theoretical introduction and an overview of the fundamental applications of the physics of solids. CO3: This course includes theoretical description of crystal and electronic structure, lattice dynamics, and optical properties of different materials. CO4: Structure of metals, semiconductors, dielectrics, magnetic materials and superconductors determined, based on the classical and quantum physics principles. CO5:Several advanced experiments of X-ray diffraction, Raman Scattering, Photoluminescence, etc., will be carrier out in the Research Physics Lab followed by their theoretical discussion |
