Re: ycmou test papers

I am providing you the question paper of Applied Physics of B.Tech Electronics Engineering of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University YCMOU.

YCMOU B.Tech EE Applied Physics question paper

Time: 180 minutes

Marks: 80

Instructions for the Students :

1) All ques. are compulsory.
2) "Long ans kind ques. (LAQ)" is a supply kind ques. of 20 marks
which requires a typical ans of about 60-80 lines in about 32-,40 minutes.
3) "Short ans kind ques. (SAQ)" i~ a supply kind ques. of five marks
which requires a t:ypical answe,r of about 15-20 lines in about 08-10 minutes.
4) Use of a non-programmable kind of scientific calculator is allowed.
5) Draw neat diagrams wherever necessary.
6) presume suitable data if necessary .

Long ans kind Questions'(LAQ's)

1)Define fundamental volumes. Write the rules and conventions
to be obeyed when SI units are used. [marks 5]

2)Write a note on the vector product of 2 vectors. [marks 5]

3)What is energy ? describe kinetic energy and potential energy. provide
one example of every. [marks 5]

4)Define angular velocity and angular acceleration of uniform circular
motion. Write down their SI units and mathematical formula. [marks 5]

5)Write a few features of the centre of gravity. [marks 5]

6)Derive an expression for the moment of inertia of a hollow cylinder
having an inner radius Rl and outer radius R2 when the axis of
rotation is the identical as the axis of the cylinder. [marks 10]

11)Explain the total internal reflection when a ray of light travels .
from a denser (water) into a rarer (air) medium. [marks 5]

12)A ray of light in air strikes a glass slab at an angle of incidence of
300. If the refractive index of glass is 1.5, compute the angle of
refraction in glass. [marks 5]

13)Explain the terms dispersion and deviation used in case of a prism. [marks 5]

Short ans kind ques. (SAQ's)

14)In a certain machine, a weight of 2000 N is lifted by an.effort of 100 N.
While the weIght moves upto 10 cm, the point of application of effort
moves by four m. obtain the mechanical advantage, velocity ratio and
efficiency of the machine. [marks 5]

15)Suppose the formula of an SHM is x = six Sint-p/2 .What will be
the displacement after five seconds? [marks 5]
