The training is structured to provide perspective, knowledge, and training in this dynamic field. Law Enforcement Weber State's Law Enforcement Academy provides a thorough background for those planning a career in criminal justice. The training consists of two training modules that lead to two law enforcement certifications and one correction certification. Two training modules to choose from WSU's Law Enforcement Academy offers two separate training modules to prepare you for a career in law enforcement. Module 1 Auxiliary/Special Function Officer (SFO) and Basic Correction Officer (BCO) After completion of this training you will be certifiable for the following positions: Reserve Officers County Sheriff Corrections Officer Prison Corrections Officer Module 2 Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) After this training you will be certifiable to work as: City Police Officers State Highway Patrol Deputy Sheriff State Law Enforcement Officer Adult Probation and Parole Agent Entry Requirements- Academic Test: All applicants are required to pass the NPOST exam prior to attending the Law Enforcement Academy. Physical Training: The PT Entrance exam will be the first week of class. Complete Application Process: Including Background Check and the Fingerprint Search. BE A UNITED STATES CITIZEN: Naturalized citizens shall indicate their naturalization number on the application or provide a copy of a current and valid U.S. Passport. Be a minimum age of 21 years of age by the SFO Certification Exam (approx. 5-6 weeks). Be the holder of a high school diploma or furnish evidence of successful completion of an examination indicating an equivalent achievement. Demonstrate good moral character, as determined by a background investigation, which may include consideration of offenses that have been expunged under Utah Code Ann. 77-40-108 or that have been dismissed or that have been treated in a similar manner to either of these procedures. Be free of any physical, emotional or mental condition which might adversely affect the performance of duty as a peace officer.
