| Vishal Kotkar | Re: ekocool coca cola The details about the Ekocool Solar Powered Cooler – a Program under '5by20' – by Coca-Cola India are as follows: EKOCOOL SOLAR POWERED COOLER ‘eKOcool’ is an new solar cooler that is initiated by the Company and provides income generating opportunity for women retailers in electricity deficit areas of rural India. The solar coolers also help reduce the cost of running retail business since no cost is incurred on account of electricity or ice procurement, used to chill beverages. The cooler has in-built charging ports for mobile phones and a solar lantern (which facilitates the retailer to keep her store open even after the sunset). So far, over 1,700 eKOcool units have been installed across 5 states in India in women run outlets. Other Programs under ‘5by20’ PARIVARTAN This program is determined on building the retailing capabilities of women entrepreneurs especially in the areas of cash and, stock management; shop management and customer interactions. It is conducted by the Coca-Cola University, in mobile buses that have been converted into classrooms. The buses travel across remote parts of rural India. It has been scaled-up substantially and over to 10,000 women retailers were having been trained till now. PRAGATI Pragati program is also focused on building the retailing capabilities of women entrepreneurs by providing training, product knowledge and business start-up support to women retailers. It is conducted by HCCBPL, mostly in bottling plants in remote parts of rural India. Over 13,000 women have been supported under this program so far. UNNATI In addition to the retailer segment of the value chain, CCIPL is also supporting producers through Project Unnati, a supply chain initiative that would enable 10,000 women mango farmers to adopt modern farming techniques and good agricultural practices. Around 1,000 women have been covered under this initiative till now. |
