The investigation of music - its instruction and execution begun in the University of Bombay in1969. The Music Center was built up in this year and a two year Diploma Course in Hindustani Vocal Classical Music was begun. In 1978, the Music Center in the University of Bombay was changed over into the customary Department of Music and a three-year Degree Course in vocal music - Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music Vocal) was added to existing two year Diploma Course in Music H.V.C. Department of Music Courses Today followingr courses are led in the Department. • One year Pre Diploma Foundation Course in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music • A Two Year Diploma Course In Hindustani Classical Vocal/Light Vocal/ Sitar/Tabla • A Three Year Degree Course – B.Mus. In Hindustani Classical Vocal/Sitar/Tabla • A Two Year Post Graduation Course – M. Mus. In Hindustani Classical Vocal • Ph. D. program in Music • Six Months authentication course in - Sound Recording and Reproduction Course (SRR) • Four months authentication course in - Music Composition and Direction (MCD) Admission :- Affirmation is offered to qualified new understudies at the primary year level of the separate courses viz. Certificate, Degree and Post graduate. The procedure of confirmation of the said courses begins from first June. The tryout tests are held from there on and Final affirmations are told towards the finish of June. Affirmation structures can be gotten from the workplace of the Department from first May on installment of prescribed form fees in cash.
