It is a paper-pen based test of reading and verbal reasoning skills designed by the USA based Law School Admission Council (LSAC) for use by Law Schools in India. LSAT Paper Pattern The LSAT India is a paper-and-pencil test. All questions are in a multiple-choice format, some with four answer choices and others with five. Answers are collected on a scan able answer sheet. Section - Number of Questions - Timing:- Analytical Reasoning - Approx. 24 Qs - 35 minutes 1st Logical Reasoning - Approx. 24 Qs - 35 minutes 2nd Logical Reasoning - Approx. 24 Qs - 35 minutes Reading Comprehension - Approx. 24 Qs - 35 minutes Total: 4 sections - 92-100 questions - 2 hours and 20 minutes There is no negative marking or penalty for guessing. Only correct answers contribute to a candidate's score. Therefore, candidates should leave no question unanswered and guess on those questions they cannot carefully consider. LSAT Syllabus:- Analytical Reasoning Questions: These questions relate to ability to understand the structure of relationships and to draw logical conclusions about these structures. One is required to reason with provable set of rules and principles that describe relationships among persons, things or events. This section includes questions of compels analyses that a law student is expected to perform during the course of legal problem solving. Logical Reasoning Questions: This section is a test of ability to analyse, evaluate and complete arguments in the most ordinary and understandable language (layman terms). Questions are comprehension based i.e. that is reading the passage and answering questions related to the same. However, these question are designed to understand how well one think critically and also in the legal context of affairs. The skills required for this section include drawing well supported conclusions, reasoning by analogy, determine how additional evidence affects an argument, applying rules and principles and also identifying flaws in argument. Reading Comprehension Questions: The questions in this section test your ability to read, understand and insight complex material similar to those encountered in law school. This Reading comprehension section contains four sets of reading questions that include reading material followed by four to nine questions that test reading and reasoning abilities. |
