LIST OF EXPERIMENTS
1. To determine the coefficient of thermal conductivity of a bad conductor by Lee and Charlton’s disc method.
2. To determine Stefan’s Constant or to verify Stefan’s law.
3. To study the characteristics of thermocouple transducer and to measure the temperature of the process.
4. To study the characteristics of a thermistor and to measure temperature of the process.
5. Newton’s law of cooling
6. Determination of emissivity of a surface of a spherical calorimeter.
7. To determine the coefficient of thermal conductivity of a rubber.
8. Measurement of Planck’s constant using black body radiation.
9. To study the variation of thermo emf across two junctions of a thermocouple with temperature.
10. Joule’s calorimeter – Specific heat capacity of water

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course students will be able to
CO1: To use thermal and statistical principles in a wide range of applications.
CO2: Apply the concepts and principles of black-body radiation to analyze radiation phenomena in thermodynamic systems.
CO3: Apply the concepts and laws of thermodynamics to solve problems in thermodynamic systems such as gases, heat
engines and refrigerators etc.
