Special Class Railway Apprentice Syllabus

Special Class Railway learners’ is made by the Union Public Service committee (UPSC) on the base of the Annual competitor checkups. Recruitment to the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) and the Indian Railway bills Service (IRAS) is done on the basis of the result of the Civil Services Examination (The Indian Administrative service checkup) and that to the Indian Railway services of technologists (IRSE), Indian Railway Service of Electrical technologists (IRSEE) and Indian Railway serves Stores (IRSS) is made on the basis of the Combined Engineering Service Examination.

The SCRA scheme was started in 1927 by the British, to select a handful of most intelligent Indians to assist them in their Railway Operations, after training at their Railway’s largest workshop, i.e. Jamalpur Workshop, and for one year in United Kingdom. The selected candidates were required to appear in the Mechanical Engineering Degree Examination held by Engineering Council (London).
