Indian Forest Service is one of the Civil Services of India and belongs to the All India Services group, with other two All India Services being the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS). About the IFS Officer An IFS officer is largely independent of district administration and exercises administrative, judicial and financial powers in their own domain. All top positions in state forest department are held by IFS officers. Positions like Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Conservator of Forests (CF) and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) etc. Working Duties of the IFS Officer The Indian Forest Officer was enacted to preserve and safeguard the forests generally in India. Forest Officers are vested with powers to enquire into offence cases, force attendance of witnesses, stop and search vehicles, arrest without warrant, issue search warrants, seize forest produce suspected to be illegally obtained Working There work is to save the forest and wild life and maintain the forest areas in country. For the development we are eliminating the wild life day by day. So the forest officers stop illegal wood cutting, and any damage of wild animal life. They also save the people who live nearby forest form wild animal who wandered. A forest officer can take strict action against the person who breaches the rules of forest. |
