NIFT, set up in 1986 under the aegis of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, is a Statutory Institute Governed by the NIFT Act 2006. Bringing in a wide range of aesthetic & intellectual orientations, the early instructors included leading progressive scholars from Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, USA.

Introduction and technical aspects of photography, Photography as visual art, study and analysis of masters’ work, assignments and group discussion

The existing campus of NIFT-G which was inaugurated in 2004 is designed to meet the demands of imparting creative education.

Surrounded by other leading National Institutes and lush green environment, the building houses separate theory studios and workshops for each faculty.
