Selection tests to all courses offered at NIFT will be taken in two stages. Stage One (PBT I) of the examinations will involve the first round of paper based tests. Stage Two of the examinations will include the second round of tests which could either be paper based (PBT II) or PC based (CBT), contingent on the specific course. Negative characteristics of 0.25 are deducted for each wrong answer. Bachelor's Programs Design For admission to the Bachelors of Design, the aggregate score of each candidate will be a composite of: • 50 per cent - General Ability Test (GAT) • 30 per cent - Creative Ability Test (CAT) • 20 per cent - Situation Test Design Technology For admission to the Bachelors of Fashion Technology, the aggregate score of each candidate will be founded on their General Ability Test (GAT) score. Master's Programs Design For admission to the Masters of Design, the aggregate score of each candidate will be a composite of: • 40 per cent - Creative Ability Test (CAT) • 30 per cent - General Ability Test (GAT) • 30 per cent - Group Discussion or Personal Interview Design Technology For admission to the Masters of Fashion Technology, the aggregate score of each candidate will be a composite of: • 70 per cent - General Ability Test (GAT) • 30 per cent - Group Discussion or Personal Interview Fashion Management For admission to the Masters of Fashion Management, the aggregate score of each candidate will be a composite of: • 70 per cent - General Ability Test (GAT) • 30 per cent - Group Discussion or Personal Interview Exam Pattern GAT The General Ability Test for B.Des and M.Des will have the accompanying sections: Quantitative Ability - 25 Questions Correspondence Ability - 35 Questions English Comprehension - 30 Questions Diagnostic Ability - 30 Questions General Knowledge and Current Affairs - 30 Questions The General Ability Test for B.FTech, MFM, M.Des AND M.FTech will have the accompanying sections: Quantitative Ability - 30 Questions for B.FTech and M.FTech and 10 Questions for MFM Correspondence Ability and English Comprehension - 45 Questions for B.FTech and M.FTech and 50 Questions for MFM Diagnostic and Logical Ability - 25 Questions for B.FTech, M.FTech and MFM General Knowledge and Current Affairs - 25 Questions for B.FTech, M.FTech and MFM Contextual investigation - 25 Questions for B.FTech and M.FTech and 40 Questions for MFM CAT The Creative Ability Test (CAT) surveys a candidates' instinct expertise, perception capacity, inventive and plan capacity. Syllabus NIFT entrance exam has no meticulous set of syllabus. Questions are asked to make sure the aptitude of the candidate in desired field. Quantitative Ability section under General Ability Test (GAT), the candidates can practice questions on Algebra, Profit & Loss, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Distance, Work, Ratio and Proportion, and Geometry etc. of matric level along with Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Probability, Differential Equations, Statistics, and Fundamentals of Computer Applications etc. topics studied by the candidates at 10+2 level for undergraduate test and at graduation level for postgraduate program. For Communication Ability, the candidates can study synonyms, words with corresponding meanings, antonyms, singular, plural, one word substitutes, correct spellings, idioms and phrases, etc. Business Domain section consists of questions, which tests the knowledge and awareness of the candidate about the Fashion Industry, Designers, etc. textiles, apparel industry, import and export sectors, WTO issues related to textiles, apparel brands, etc. Logical Ability – the section aims to evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify the logic or reason involved in a particular problem given and applying the logic in solving the problem. Concepts and practice of creative and lateral thinking are likely to be useful |
