The syllabus of Biochemistry paper for AUCET Entrance Exam is as follows: Test A:- Composition of blood, Blood coagulation, PH & Bufferss Bacteria, Viruses and Vaccination.Radio active isotopes and their use in Biochemistry, Chemical composition and digestibility of foods, protein malnutrition disorders.Structure of cell membrane, Electroosmosis, Osmo-regulation, Role of minerals in living systems, liver function tests, Jaundice, Structure and physiological roles of hormones, Basic features of immune response lymphoid system, T and B lymphocytes, cellular and humoral immunity, classes and structure of immunoglobulin, DNA replication, biosynthesis of RNA, protein synthesis, genetic code, basic principles and applications of recombinant DNA technology, RIA and ELISA. Test B:- Bioenergetics, biological oxidations, metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, amino acids and nucleic acids, chemistry and physiological role of vitamins, Principles of Enzymology. Test C :- Basic principles of biochemical separation methods - paper, thin layer, ion-exchange, affinity chromatography, gel filtration, dialysis, centrifugation, electrophoresis-paper and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Basic principles of colorimetry and spectrophotometry. Classification, chemistry and physico-chemical properties of amino acids, proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids, porphyrins.
