The International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) was established at Mumbai in July 1956 to serve as the regional centre for training and research in Population Studies for the countries of Asia and Pacific region. The Institute will strive to be a centre of excellence on all population and relevant issues through high quality education, teaching and research. This will be achieved by (a) creating competent professionals, (b) generating and disseminating scientific knowledge and evidence, (c) collaboration and exchange of knowledge, and (d) advocacy and awareness. Master of Science in Bio-Statistics and Demography No. of Seats: 50 Seats with Govt. of India fellowship Eligibility: One with Bachelor degree from recognized universities in India or abroad in core subject of Mathematics or Statistics or with minimum 2 full papers of Mathematics or Statistics with minimum 55% of aggregate marks in all subjects (all semesters/ parts included) will be eligible for admission to the above programme. One awaiting results of qualifying exam can also apply for consideration. The upper age limit is 25 years. Marks and age are relaxable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per GOI rules. Duration: Two years (Full-time) Fellowship/Sponsorship: Each selected Indian student will be awarded a Government of India fellowship @ ` 5000/- per month. Selection Criteria: The selection will be made on the basis of a written test and personal interview. Only short listed candidates will be called for the test and interview. Short listed candidates appearing for admission test are entitled to claim sleeper class train fare by the shortest route on production of original tickets and in case of road journey normal fare will be paid only for travel by public transport run by a Government body. |
