I want to get admission in MBA in Department of Management Studies (DoMS), IIT Madras so can you tell me the eligibility criteria and the selection process for admission?

The Department of Management Studies (DoMS), IIT Madras offers Master of Business Administration (MBA) program of duration 2 years.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The program is a two-year, full-time, seven quarter program aimed at training graduates to become capable managers.

Duration – 2 years

Eligibility Criteria-

Graduates or equivalent professional qualification in any discipline with first class or 60% marks (55% for SC/ST)

For Defence personnel the minimum percentage of marks in qualifying degree will be 55%.

Final year students are also eligible to apply.

Regular Candidates

Regular candidates should possess a valid score in the Common Admissions Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management.

IIT Graduates who obtain a CGPA of 8 and above on 10 are exempted from CAT score.

Sponsored Candidates-

This category is of two types:

a) Company Sponsored Candidates -

Candidates may be sponsored by their employers to pursue an MBA at IIT Madras. Candidates should forward their application through proper channel.
They must have a minimum work experience of two years in the sponsoring organization and a valid CAT Score.

b) Indian Defense Personnel-

Defense personnel are exempted from the national level entrance test. Candidates who are working with the Defense forces are encouraged to apply through respective government agencies.

Non-Resident Indian and Foreign Nationals

Short listing for this category shall be on the basis of

GMAT score
Past academic performance
Letters of reference and
Work experience, if any

Selection Procedure

DoMS requires candidates to have a valid score on the Common Admission Test (conducted by IIM), or a valid GMAT score in case of NRIs and Foreign Nationals.

Shortlisting for the next round of selection will be based on a COMPOSITE SCORE with due weights to applicant's CAT score, UG academic performance, industry experience and gender.

They are required to appear for a group task and personal interview on the specified date and location.

Final selection to the program depends on:

• Composite Score
• Performance in GT/PI and
• Letters of reference
