The Indian Engineering Services comprise of engineers who work under the government of India and designated as Class – 1 officer.

They administer a large segment of the public sector economy, which constitutes of Indian Railways, Power, Telecommunications, Central Water engineering, Defence service of Engineers, Central Engineering Service, etc.

Exam Pattern:

Engineering Aptitude
2 Paper-2 Concerned Subject 300 3 Hours
Total 500 5 Hours

The UPSC prelims consist of objective type exam
In this UPSC IES prelims, there will be two papers ie I & II
For IES Paper I, the number of marks is 200 and the exam duration is 2 hours
For IES Paper II, the number of marks is 300 and the duration is 3 hours
So the total number of marks in UPSC IES prelims is 500 marks
And the total duration of UPSC IES prelims is 5 Hours
